نظرا لتعدد الأنظمة الإرثية، والإختلاف حولها وضع الدكتور "أكرم ياغي" دراسته (الوجيز في أحكام الوصية والإرث) لجميع الطوائف والمذاهب اللبنانية على السواء. وبالتحديد جاء الكتاب (دراسة فقهية قانونية مقارنة) على ضوء الشريعة الإسلامية (حنفي - جعفري - درزي) وقانون الإرث لغير المحمديين (23 حزيران 1959).
وانطلاقا من أهمية أحكام الوصية والإرث وما يشكله الإختلاف بين الطوائف والمذاهب من إشكالات ولمزيد من الإيضاحات حول الموضوع بدأ المؤلف بلمحة تاريخية عن الوصية والإرث، أتبعها بأحكام الوصية والإرث في لبنان. موزعاً دراسته على قسمين: القسم الأول (نظام الوصية في لبنان) ويضم أربعة فصول: الأول في معنى الوصية في الفقه والقانون، الثاني: شروط الوصية، الثالث: آثار الوصية، والرابع: الرجوع عن الوصية وسقوطها. أما القسم الثاني فجاء بعنوان (نظام الإرث في لبنان) ويضم أربعة فصول: الأول في معنى الإرث في الفقه والقانون، والثاني: الأنظمة الإرثية وقواعدها الأساسية، والثالث: في تأصيل المسائل الإرثية، والرابع بحث في مسائل مختلفة مثل العول عند السنة (الدروز)، الرد عند السنة والدروز والشيعة، في ميراث الخنثي، التخارج وغيرها. وختم المؤلف كتابه بـ أ- مسائل مشهورة خارجة عن قواعد الميراث عند السنة والجماعة، ب - أعمال تطبيقية، و ج- المصطلحات القانونية والفقهية مثل : بنو الأعيان، بنو الأرحام ... وملاحق تضمنت: قانون الإرث لغير المحمديين، قانون صادر في 23/6/1959، والأحوال الشخصية للطائفة الدرزية قانون - صادر في 24/2/1948 ...الخ.
