أن النقص الواضح في الأدبيات العربية المتخصصة بالتدريب بشكل عام، والتدريب التشاركي بشكل خاص، بالإضافة إلى حاجة المدربين العاملين مع الناس إلى أدلة إرشادية ميسرة تعينهم في زيادة، وصقل مهاراتهم المتعلقة بتوسيع فرص مشاركة المشاركين في برامجهم، وأنشطتهم التدريبية كانت جميعها وراء فكرة تأليف هذا الكتاب.
إن محتوى هذا الكتاب قد صمم بطريقة تخدم كلاً من المدرب والمتدرب، حيث تضمن الكتاب إجراءات وكافة الأنشطة والتمارين الفردية والجماعية والملخصات وغيرها، فضلاً عن معلومات أخرى عديدة عن التدريب التشاركي، وقد أخضع هذا الدليل إلى تنفيذ فعلي في أكثر من برنامج تدريبي تحت عنوان طرق التدريب التشاركي (Participatory Training Techniques. PTT) التي أدارها المؤلف في عمان منها ذاك البرنامج المنفذ خلال الفترة ما بين 16-22/8/1996.
