المرأة عنصر فاعلٌ في المجتمع، رغم ما حاق بها من غبن وإهمال دام عقوداً طويلة جراء تسلط الرجل وتخلف القوانين والأعراف الاجتماعية. ورغم من ذلك شهدت المجتمعات العربية نساء برزن في مختلف مجالات الحياة وكانت لهن مساهمات فعالة ومشرفة في بناء مجتمعاتهن. والمرأة في مجتمع الموحدين الدروز لا تقل مكانة عن مثيلاتها في المجتمعات العربية الأخرى، حيث بلغت بعض النساء مستويات تؤهلهن لتسلم المسؤوليات الجسام، ورغم قلة ما كتب عن المرأة الدرزية فإن هذا لا يعني عدم بلوغها مراكز هامة. ولعل هذا الكتاب يعوض البعض الحاصل في هذا المجال، حيث يلقي الضوء على موضوع المرأة الدرزية في تاريخها والتطورات التي مرت فيها وقد حصرت المؤلفة الكلام على المرأة الدرزية في لبنان، كي تأتي دراستها أكثر إحاطة بالتطورات التي مرت بها المرأة منذ بدء الدعوة التوحيدية حتى الآن.
وخصصت جزءاً من دراستها لإلقاء الضوء على جانب مهم من الدور الذي قامت فيه بعض النسوة اللواتي أخذن زمام الحكم في البلاد في المرحلة التي تمتد حتى نهاية العقد الرابع من القرن العشرين. ثم عرجت إلى الحديث عن المرأة في النصف الثاني من القرن العشرين وبدايات الألفية الثالثة. وقد شملت هذه المجالات مجالات الصحة والأدب والتربية والبحث العلمي والحقل الاجتماعي والقضاء، والصحافة، والطب، وغير ذلك من المجالات المهمة والحيوية.
