يضم هذا الكتاب طائفة من رسائل جبران، بعضها كان مبعثراً، وبعضها الآخر يكتشف عنه للمرة الأولى. ويعود تاريخ كتابة هذه الرسائل إلى ما بين 1899 و1929. و"رسائل جبران التائهة" تكمل ما نشر من رسائل من رسائل صاحب "النبي" إلى أقربائه وأصدقائه ومعارفه وإلى من خفق لهن قلبه. وجميعها تلقي أضواء على فكره وفنه، وتساعد على فهم نفسية ورؤاه.
والأستاذ رياض حنين في إماطة اللثام عن هذه الرسائل، إلى جانب ما جمعه منها-وكان مبثوثاً هنا وهناك-ثم تقديمه لها، ووضع ثبت شامل عن الرسائل الجبرانية المنشورة في الكتب والصحف، ليؤدي خدمة إلى الدارسين يشكر عليها.
