هذا الكتاب المخصص لشعر المرأة السعودية، يسعى للكشف عن هذا النتاج الشعري، وتقريبه إلى القارئ بطريقة ميسرة وجذابة وعملية في آن. فيدرس تجليات الذات في النص والمكان من أجل الكشف عن القواعد والإرغامات الفنية التي شكلت هذا الخطاب الشعري وأثرت في لغته وتقنياته وأنساقه.
تقرأ د.فاطمة الوهيبي المرأة والمكان والقصيدة على محاور ثلاثة: اللغة والجسد والعالم، وأنثوية المكان، وأنثوية الشعرية، فتبحث إشكالية الذات والجسد مع المكان ومع القصيدة وبوصفها تموضعاً للذات في اللغة والوجود.
تبدو المرأة وسط ذلك مشتبكة بعلاقات تماه. كيف يبدو هذا التماهي في الكتابات والتجليات الشعرية للمرأة؟
لقد اختارت المؤلفة نصوصاً لإحدى عشرة شاعرة فقط، في حين أن عدد الشاعرات في المملكة العربية السعودية أكبر بكثير من هذا العدد، وهذا الاختيار جاء تبعاً لضآلة البحث وموضوعه.
وزيادة في الإيضاح ألحق الباحثة المتن بيلوجرافيا وجداول مختلفة ويمكن للقارئ أن يلاحظ أن عدد الشاعرات السعوديات يزيد عن الستين، وقد أصدرت بعضهن مجموعات شعرية، وبعضهن الآخر يكتفين بالنشر في الدوريات أو المساهمة المنبرية في المناسبات الثقافية. وقد قسمت تلك الببلوجرافيا والجداول إلى: أولاً: ببلوجرافيا تتضمن مختصراً عن السيرة للشاعرات المدروسة نصوصهن في هذا الكتاب. ثانياً: الببلوجرافيا الثانية حاولت من خلالها حصر كل أسماء الشاعرات اللائي أصدرن مجموعات شعرية. ثالثاً: ألحق أيضاً جدولاً للدواوين والمجموعات الشعرية مرتبة حسب تواريخ صدورها. رابعاً: أما الجدول الرابع فجدول تقريبي حاول فيه حصر أسماء الشاعرات اللائي لم يصدرن مجموعات شعرية، ولكنهن ينشرن في الدوريات أو يساهمن منبرياً في الأمسيات والمناسبات الثقافية.
