لما كانت الجامعات العربية مؤسسة من قبل هذه الحكومات وخاضعة لإدارتها وحكمها فإنَّ الإبتعاد عن هذا الحقل العلميّ كان متعمّداً ومهملاً الأمر الذي أدّى إلى قصور معرفي عند الأساتذة والباحثين والطلبة في ميدان علم الإجتماع، مما ترك لإختصاص الشريعة الإسلامية التي تختلف في منهجها وتنظيرها ومرئيتها للدين مع إهمالها للديانات غير الإسلامية، أقول هناك إفتقار معرفي في هذا الحقل القديم على الرغم من تأثيره الفعال والقوي في الوقت الراهن على كافة المجتمعات العربية الأمر الذي أدى إلى تحريف وتشويه العديد من مفاهيمه ومنطلقاته وتعاليمه.
لذا أجد من الضرورة القصوى للعاملين في ميدان علم إجتماع التناول الموضوعي في دراسة الظواهر والمشكلات والحالات الدينية مع الإطلاع على أدبيات الديانات الأخرى وعدم النكوص والرجوع إلى الطروحات الذاتية والشخصية والفئوية من أجل إزالة التفكير الغيبي والخرافي واللاعلمي والمحافظ والإصلاحي والمتعصب والمتطرف.
