"قافلة الحب والموت" ملحمة مأساوية شعرية أراد الشاعر والأديب "عباس العباسي الطائي" تجسيدها في هذا المؤلف ليصف لنا فيما بين السطور والكلمات التبعيد المروع والقسري الذي قام به النظام الملكي السابق النظام البهلوي (1925-1941) لأكثر من 1500 فرد من عوائل العشائر العربية الأهوازية من منطقة الحويزة غربي الأهواز إلى طهران، مسافة 1000 كيلومتر، مشياً على الأقدام، وقد مات أكثرهم في ذلك الطريق الوعر الطويل.
يقول الشاعر: هذه ملحمة مأساوية شعرية، عاش بعض أبطالها بيننا، فسمعناها من أفواههم وأخذنا عن مذكراتهم. قافلة الحب والموت، ركب أشباح يسير، ورحي الموت تدور معه فاغرة فاها تلتهم الكبار والصغار، شيوخاً وعجائز وحوامل وأطفالاً وشباباً (...)".
في قصيدة بعنوان (من وراء الدموع) يقول الشاعر:
كسر النسر جناحي يا خيالاتي خذيني ، واحمليني لأغني لبلادي بحنيني ، غربة قاتلة تنخر ما بين ضلوعي ، وأنا لست مباحاً في ذهابي ورجوعي ، نهش النسر عيوني ويدي فوق جبيني ، وخيالي مونسي ما بين شكي ويقيني ...".
محتويات الكتاب: يتضمن العمل ثلاثة فصول جاء الفصل الأول بعنوان "مسرح الأحداث" وفيه يطل الكاتب على الحالة الإجتماعية والإقتصادية والثقافية في مدن سهل ميسان أو دستميسان. أما الفصل الثاني فجاء بعنوان "لمحة تاريخية" ويتحدث عن عصر الولاية الإسلامية وعصر الدويلات وعصر الإمارات ومواقف الشيخ خزعل بن جابر أثناء الحكم البريطاني. وأخيراً الفصل الثالث وجاء بعنوان "قافلة الحب والموت" تضمن عدداً من قصائد الشعر التي وصفت المأساة.
