من المعلوم عند جميع العارفين بالله تعالى والشيوخ الربانيين، أنّ أقرب وسيلة وأشرفها إلى التحقق بالمعرفة والقرب الإلهي، في إطار التقوى الشرعية ظاهراً وباطناً، هو ذكر الإسم الأعظم المفرد الجامع الكافي إسم الجلالة (الله)...
وليس هذا الإسم بحيث يخفى على قوم دون قوم، بل هو ظاهر معلوم، لكنه يقتضي سراً عظيماً حصل عليه أفراد الرجال، من التصفية وطهارة النفس، فالسرّ في السكان لا في المنزل، فالإسم واحد، لكن استعمله رجل على شرطه من الطهارة والتصفية، حتى عتر على حقيقته، فهو بتلك الحقيقة بتصرّف ومنها ينفق؛ ورجل آخر يذكره آناء الليل وأطراف النهار، لكنه عريّ عن شروطه ووظائفه، وإن كان لا يعرُو عن الأجر والثواب، فهو يقرع الباب من وراء حجاب، ولَمّا استعمل الكافة هذا الإسم، فلم يظهر لهم ما ظهر بإستعماله للخاصة، ظَنّ بعضهم أنّ الإسم الأعظم هو غير ما ذكر، وذلك جهل بوجه الحكمة.
وفي هذا الكتاب المشتمل على ثمانية وعشرين فصلاً وخاتمة، بيان لأهم ما يتعلق بهذا الإسم، في القرآن الكريم والأحاديث النبوية، وفي كلام العلماء من شيوخ التربية، ويشتمل على تفاصيل موضحة لخصوصيات دلالاته ومعانيه ومبانيه، ورموز حروفه، وإنطواء كل الأذكار وروح العبادات فيه، وآداب تلقينه ومراحل السلوك به في الخلوة والجلوة، مع إشارات لبعض ثمرات وأحوال أهله، كل ذلك لرفع همة طالب الحق إلى أعزّ الطرق الموصلة إليه سبحانه.
