ترجع أهمية هذا الكتاب إلى أنّ الموضوع الذي يعالجه هو التفسير الإشاري لكل سور القرآن الكريم على طريقة شيخ العارفين الأكبر محيي الدّين بن العربي، وقد تتبّع مؤلفه تصانيف الشيخ الأكبر العديدة المتنوّعة في هذا المجال، فأوْصلها ببعضها.
وهذا ليس بالأمر الهيّن، بل إنّ الشيخ نفسه لم يصرّح به في كتبه، وإنما أشار إلى ذلك إشارات بثّها هنا وهناك، لا ينتبه إليها إلا من قرأ مجموع تصانيف الشيخ وأدرك أبعادها، وسبَر أعماق دلالاتها.
فعمَدَ المؤلّف إلى هذه الإشارات فتقصّاها وبنى عليها شروحه لألغازها، وفتح مغاليقها، وقد كشف كشفاً غير مسبوق عن حقائق قرآنية هي حقاً مفاتيح لفهم جديد أصيل عميق للعديد من كتب الشيخ، وأوضح الرّوابط بينها؛ ومنها في "الفتوحات المكية" أبواب معرفة المنازل في الفصل الرّابع (114 باباً)، وأبواب الفصل الخامس (79 باباً) المتعلق بالمنازلات وتناسبها مع أبواب كتاب "التراجم"، والفصل السادس (يضع وتسعون باباً) المتعلق يهجّيرات الأقطاب، أي الأذكار الخاصّة بهم.
كما أوضح إشارات وفكّ ألغاز كتاب "إشارات القرآن الكريم في عالم الإنسان"، و"كتاب العظمة"، وتطرّق إلى ما يناسبها في فقرات من كتاب "التنزلات الموصلية"، وكتاب "العبادلة"، وكتاب "الإسراء".
بل وربط أيضاً كل تلك الأبواب من الفتوحات المتعلقة بالسور والآيات مع فقرات الباب 559 من نفس الكتاب التي تحيل على مختلف الأبواب، وكذلك فعل مع الأشعار المطبوعة أو المخطوطة للشيخ الأكبر والمتعلقة بسور القرآن الكريم بكيفيّة جليّة أو خفيّة، فأوضح مبهماتها بكشف مرجعيتها القرآنية الخفيّة، وربط بين هذه المنفصلات، فكأنما يقرأ كتاباً واحداً هو عبارة عن حقائق ومعارف الشيخ وعلومه الوهبية من حضرة القرآن العظيم.
وبهذا يكون هذا الكتاب الغزير العميق الشاسع عملاً غير مسبوق في ميدان العرفان الصوفي العالي الذي تميّز به دين الإسلام المحمّديّ الخاتم.
