هذا الكتاب: يتحدث عن مرحلة حساسة وهامة من تاريخ إيران في بداية القرن التاسع عشر حيث كان الصراع والتنافس بين بريطانيا وروسيا القيصرية حول النفوذ في إيران وكان البلاط الملكي القاجاري آنذاك وكراً للجواسيس والمتزلفين والعملاء, مما ساعد على توسع النفوذ البريطاني والروسي في المؤسسات الحكومية الإيرانية ومنها البلاط نفسه. وفي تلك المرحلة ظهرت شخصية وطنية قومية تمثلت في الميرزة( محمد تقي خان الفراهاني) المعروف بالأمير الكبير. فتصدى لذلك النفوذ وحاول جاهداً إبعاد العملاء والمتزلفين من البلاط والمؤسسات وحاول أن يسد النوافذ أمام النفوذ البريطاني والروسي إلا أن الاستعمار وعملاءه في إيران أخذوا يتآمرون عليه ويحرضون الملك ناصر الدين شاه القاجاري ضده زاعمين أن الأمير الكبير, ولما يتمتع به من شعبية واسعة ونفوذ في القوات المسلحة, ينوي الإطاحة بالملك واستلام السلطة في إيران وقد تأثر ناصر الدين شاه بهذا التآمر فعزل الأمير الكبير من جميع مناصبه ونفاه الى مدينة كاشان جنوبي طهران. ولم يكتف أعداء الأمير الكبير بذلك, فواصلوا تآمرهم ودسائسهم ضده حتى تمكنوا من النيل منه. ومن أهم ما تناوله الكتاب ما يلي: الظروف الخاصة في نشأة الأمير الكبير, مرحلة ما قبل الأمير, سياسة الأمير الكبير الداخلية, السياسة الخارجية للأمير الكبير, نهاية المطاف, أحكام وآراء, مرحلة ما بعد الأمير.
