دمشق هذه المدينة التي, كما جاء في أعمال الرسل, كانت المكان الذي اختاره المسيح ليكون مسرحاً للتحول العظيم في حياة (بولس), وبالتالي, في مسيرة المسيحية, وهو تحول أدى, في وقت قصير, الى تغيير التاريخ. فمن (دمشق) رغب يسوع أن ينطلق اسمه ليذاع بين الأمم. ولقد وقع اختياره على بولس ليكون داعية لذلك ووسيلة. وكان اختياره هذا اختيار رجل عليم كما سوف نرى. كيف حدث ذلك التحول العظيم, بل والخارق للعادة, في حياة (بولس), وبمن التقى في دمشق وأي تأثير كان لذلك اللقاء عليه حتى أنه انقلب في برهة قصيرة من الوقت من مناهض عنيف للمسيح الى أشد الداعين إليه حماساً وإخلاصاً. ومن ناحية أخرى أخرى لماذا تم اختيار (دمشق) لتكون عوضاً عن أورشليم عاصمة روحية للمسيحية تقوم بإعداد (بولس) للمهمة الكبرى ثم تطلقه الى أنطاكية, عاصمة سوريا الرسولية حيث سوف يشرع في التأسيس. هذا ما ستحاول الصفحات التالية الإجابة عليه.
