حين يتّجهُ باحثٌ إلى دراسةِ الشّعرِ في منطقةٍ من المناطق السّعوديّة، فإنّ من البدهيّ ألاّ يفصل بينه وبين نظيره في المناطقِ الأخرى، وإنمَّا يَعملُ على دراسته دراسةً تقرنه بالنّتاج الشّعريِّ في تلك المناطق، وتضفيه إليه، بوصفه جزءاً منه، كي تكتملَ حلقاتُ السّلسلة، وتتكاملَ الأجزاءُ، مُشكِّلةً الصّورة الكاملةَ للشّعر في المملكة العربيّة السّعوديّة؛ ذلك أنّ إتّساعَ رقعة البلاد يؤدِّي إلى تمايزٍ بيئيٍّ يؤهِّلُ لإنجاز دراسات علميّة متعدّدة، تُظهر الإرتباط الوثيق بين الأدب والمكان، وتأثير كلِّ منهما في الآخر، وتكشف عن عوامل التّأثير المشتركة في نتاج الأدباء.
وتقومُ فكرةُ هذا البحث على دراسةِ الشعرِ في منطقةِ عسير، في العهد السّعوديّ (من 1351 إلى 1430)، دراسةً شاملةً، ترصدُ الموضوعاتِ، والسّماتِ الفنيّة، عبر مرحلة تُعدّ من أكثر المراحل التّاريخيّة خصوبةً، إذ يدلّ تتبّع التاريخ الأدبيّ على أنّه لم يسبقّ للشّعرِ - في هذه الجهة - أن ازدهر كإزدهاره في هذه المدّة التي تمتدّ ثمانين عاماً.
ومن المهمّ، في مثل هذه الدراسة، الوعيُ بأن أثرَ مكان الولادة والنشأة في النّفْس البشريّةِ، ليس طارئاً، أو موقّتاً؛ وأنّه حين يتجاوز الثّقافةَ، إلى التّغلغلِ في أعماق الوجدان، يصبحُ ظهورُه في الأدب والفن، ذا دلالاتٍ تختلف، من حيث: الموقف منه، ومدى الإرتباط به، وما مِن شكِّ في أنّ الشّعر من أكثرِ فنون الأدب إفصاحاً عن علاقةِ الإنسان ببيئته، ومحيطه.
ومن المنطلق السّابق، اخترت دراسة الشّر في منطقة عسير من عام 1351 إلى عام 1430هـ، وفْقَ خُطّةٍ تتكوّن من: مقدّمة، تمهيد، وبابين، يحتويان على ستّةٍ فصولٍ، تضمّ - مع مبحث التّمهيد - ستّةً وعشرين مبحثاً رئيساً، بالإضافة إلى خاتمةٍ، وفهارس.
