"موسيقي شاب حاول الانتحار، يفتح عينيه في المستشفى دون أن يتذكر شيئًا، ولا حتى أغانيه. يختلط عليه الزمن فيظن الأموات أحياء، والأحياء أمواتاً، يشك في حقيقة ما يراه، ويظنه جزءاً من التاريخ، ما عدا حقيقة واحدة لا يشك فيها: جسده بضلعه المكسور. لا يعرف إن كان النسيان نقمة أم نعمة. يبحث عن أجوبة لما يجول في رأسه من أسئلة في الساعات والمرايا ومنارات البحر. إن المتاهة لا تروي معاناة رجل فقد ماضيه ويسعى لاستعادته فحسب، بل في مساحاتها البيضاء بين السطور دعوة للقارئ إلى البحث عن الحقيقة والوصول إليها من خلال الشك بها.* وُلد برهان سونميز في هيمانة عام 1965. تخرّج في كلية الحقوق في جامعة إسطنبول. عمل في سلك المحاماة، وكتب في مجالي الثقافة والسياسة في صحف مختلفة. صدر له العديد من الروايات والمجموعات القصصية، وترجمت إلى أكثر من خمس وثلاثين لغة. ترجم ديوان شعر ""الجنة والجحيم"" لويليام بليك إلى اللغة التركية. نالت روايته ""الأبرياء"" جائزتين أدبيتين محليتين عام 2011. ونالت روايته ""إسطنبول إسطنبول"" جائزتين دوليتين عامي 2017 و2018."
