أحلام الحياة في الشمال ، رواية فلسفية آسرة تأخذك في مسار طويل إلى جهات الشمال ، مكمن طموح الحالمين ، وميدان العمل من أجل تحقيق الذات ، والفوز بمباهج الحياة على تنوّعها . وعلى طول هذا المسار تأخذك الرواية إلى أعماق النفس الإنسانية ، في طموحاتها وخيباتها ، في آمالها وفي أنواع العذاب واليأس التي تقف عائقاً دون تحقيق ما يصبو إليه المسافر ، فتختلط لديه أحلام الفوز وضروب النجاح مع حقيقة اليقظة التي تأخذه إلى أمكنة أخرى ، فيضيع بين الوهم والخيال ، من ناحية ؛ وبين صفعة الواقع ومرارة الفشل الموصلة في أحيان كثيرة إلى الموت ، من ناحية أخرى . هذه الثنائية ، بين ما يمكن أن يكون ، وبين ما هو واقع ، تدفع شخصيات الرواية لأن يعيشوا واقعهم المجبول بالوهم والخيال ، فلم يجدوا حلولاً لمشكلاتهم إلا في أحلامهم التي كثيراً ما تطغى على واقعهم بحيث يصعب التفريق بين الحلم واليقظة ، بين الوهم والواقع ؛ حتى وصل الأمر في ثنائيتها إلى التأرجح بين الإخلاص والخيانة ، الشجاعة والجبن ، وصولاً إلى التشكيك بوجود الحياة ذاتها ، مروراً بالعلاقات المتناقضة التي تجمع الأب إلى أسرته . ذلك كله في قالب درامي لا يمكن أن يبقى القارىء حياله لا مبالياً .
برهان سونميز ، كاتب تركي مرموق ، كتب هذه الرواية بأسلوب أدبي جميل يلخّص ، على ما أرى ، مجمل نظرته إلى الحياة ، وإلى علاقات الناس وتقلباتها وتناقضاتها ، ليخلص إلى إظهار ذلك القلق ، وتلك الحيرة وعدم الإستقرار ، في عالم تسوده العلاقات المادية . ويشهد على أفول تلك العلاقات الإنسانية التي بلعتها ثقافة العصر المعولمة . إلا أنه يؤكد ، في الأخير ، على أن الإنسان لن يتخلى عن إنسانيته ، وسيظل يعمل ويناضل من أجل رد الإعتبار إليها .
