تعتبر الأساليب الكمية الأسلوب المعاصر في فهم وتحليل وصياغة وتطوير النظرية الاقتصادية ،إذ يعد الأسلوب الرياضي الوسيلة الأفضل لإعطاء صورة شاملة وسهلة الفهم للأسس النظرية وكيفية تحويلها إلى تطبيقات عملية ، كما أن الاقتصاد الرياضي حسب ما جاء في الكتاب يعتبر أسلوباً للتحليل الاقتصادي ، وعليه فإن الكتاب وضح آلية عمل وأهمية هذا الفرع من فروع علم الاقتصاد وأتى على المفاهيم المتعلقة به، والنماذج الاقتصادية ومفهومها وأنواعها، وتطرق كذلك إلى التوازن في الاقتصاد الجزئي والكلي والتفاضل وتطبيقاته الاقتصادية والتكامل والتحليل الحركي، ومن الملاحظ أنه رغم جمود مادة الكتاب وتعقيداتها إلا أن المؤلف ولغاية تحقيق الأهداف المرجوة من الكتاب قام بطرح أفكاره بلغة مبسطة ومفصلة يسهل على القارئ فهم محتواها.
وقد تضمن الفصل الأول تعريف الاقتصاد الرياضي والمفاهيم ذات العلاقة، أما الفصل الثاني فقد خصص لتحليل التوازن في الاقتصاد الجزئي والكلي، كما يوضح الفصل الثالث الجبر الخطي وتطبيقاته الاقتصادية، أما الفصل الرابع فقد خصص لتحليل السكون المقارن باستخدام فكرة المشتقة وقواعد التفاضل، كما تضمن الفصل الخامس استخدام المشتقات الجزئية والتفاضل الكلي في تحليل دالة الانتاج والدوال المقيدة والدوال غير المقيدة، أما الفصل السادس فيتناول التطبيقات الاقتصادية للتكامل وتحليل النماذج الديناميكية (الحركية) وأخيراً فقد خصص الفصل السابع لاستخدام أسلوب البرمجة الخطية للحصول على النهايات العظمى والصغرى للدول الاقتصادية المختلفة.
