راعيت في هذا الكتاب العناية بالنظريات العملية التي بنيت عليها الكيمياء التحليلية مع الاهتمام بالأسس الخاصة بالحساب الكيميائي في تقدير المواد المختلفة ومكوناتها، والذي حدا بي إلى وضع هذا الكتاب وشجعني على السير في هذا الطريق هو ما رأيته من افتقار المكتبة العربية إلى كثير من المراجع العلمية التي يجد فيها كل باحث شيئاً جديداً من العلم الحديث، كما يجد فيها طلاب العلم ما يعينهم على دراستهم، إذ أن اهتمام غالبية المراجع العربية يوجه نحو تفصيل الطرق العملية لتقدير العناصر أو مكونات العينات المختلفة، وبذلك نرى أنها تقصر في إظهار ودراسة المبادئ والقوانين والنظريات الأساسية مع مالها من أهمية إذ تستند عليها الطرق المتبعة في التحليل الكيميائي بوجه عام، وأننا لنرى نهضتنا العلمية المباركة قد شملت جميع وسائل التعليم فلم يكن أن تنال كتب الكيمياء نصيبها من الاتقان حتى تساير التطور العلمي اليوم.
