نبذة النيل والفرات: يتناول هذا الكتاب المبادئ الأساسية لعلم الاقتصاد، وعلم الاقتصاد هو علم حديث النشأة بالنسبة للعلوم الاجتماعية، ويتصدى هذا العلم لدراسة سلوك الإنسان حيال الموارد المحدودة من حيث إنتاجها واستخدامها في مواجهة الحاجات المتعددة والموضوعات التي يتصدى لها هذا الكتاب يمكن إجمالها في نظريات القيمة وتوازن المستهلك، والإنتاج وتوازن المنشأة الاقتصادية وتحديد الأثمان وأشكال الأسواق المختلفة. ثم يتعرض الكتاب بعد ذلك لنظرية التوزيع وتحديد أثمان خدمات عوامل الإنتاج، هذا في القسم الأول. ويتناول القسم الثاني من الكتاب النقود والبنوك والتجارة الدولية بشكل موجز كمقدمة لدراسة هذه المادة في الفرقة الثانية. كما خصصنا القسم الثالث لدراسة الدخل القومي والسكان والتنمية الاقتصادية والتخطيط كمقدمة أيضاً للدراسة في مرحلة متقدمة. والهدف من عرض هذه الموضوعات هو إحاطة الطالب بدراسة متعمقة في التحليل الجزائي ودراسة عامة في التحليل الكلي.
