هذا الإصدار دراسة علمية لنقوش عربية شمالية (صفوية)، عُثر عليها في عدد من المواقع بمنطقة الجوف، بشمالي المملكة العربية السعودية.
وقد حملت مضامين هذه النقوش مفاهيم إجتماعية، لعل من أهمها مدى الحب والوله الكبيرين، اللذين يكنّهما الصفويون لحياة البادية والإنطلاق، فضلاً عن العشق الكبير للصحراء، الذي لا يزال موجوداً لدى أهالي منطقة الجوف حتى الآن.
ولعل أبرز ما انفردت به هذه المجموعة من النقوش، التي تعد الأولى المنشورة في بلادنا، هو تعميقها للفكر والمعتقد الديني، الذي كانت تؤمن به القبائل الصفوية وتمارسه آنذاك، وهو إعتقادهم بالحساب بعد الموت، وقد كان ذلك سائداً عند شعوب بلاد الرافدين والمصريين القدماء آنذاك، كما امتازت هذه القبائل على غيرها من شعوب الشرق الأدنى القديم، بالإيمان بعذاب القبر.
وعلى كلٍ فقد قدمت هذه المجموعة مئة وستة وأربعين علماً من أسماء الأشخاص، منها ثمانية وثلاثون تُذكر للمرة الأولى، وخمسة أعلامٍ لقبائل عربية صفوية كانت تقطن شمالي المملكة العربية السعودية، إضافة إلى ست وثلاثين لفظة، منها سبع ترد للمرة الأولى، في هذا النوع من النقوش.
