إن رواية " خريف لا ينتهي " تحضر فيها مكونات الثورة السياسية والعسكرية واستثمار لمفاهيم التحرر من الأنظمة المستبدة . ينطلق مؤلفها الروائي عادل عبد المجيد المالكي من مفهوم البطل الخارق ، ذلك العنصر الأساس الذي يكون ثيمة القصة ، باعتبارها أحداثاً وأدواراً تقوم بها شخصيات ، ينفلت بها من ربقة الزمان والمكان وبترك للخيال مجالاً واسعاً للتعبير عن قدرة الإنسان من الإنفلات من الأسر . يتمظهر هذا الكلام أكثر في شخصية " هاتان " بطل الرواية المتهم ومجموعة من الرفاق بالإنقلاب على سلطة حاكم بلدة " نيروت " في جزيرة سوبرات ؛ والذي كان استبداده طاغياً وثروته فاحشة ، حاكم جائر يقسو على كل من يعارض أمره ، وهو ما جعل المعارضين يقبعون عقوداً من الزمن داخل سجونه ، وكان نصيب " هاتان " أن يقبع هو الآخر مع أخيه " بافات " في السجن ، ومن هناك ومن خلف الجدران يبدأون بالإعداد لخطة الهرب وينجحون في ذلك بمساعدة مجموعة من السجناء ، لم تبدأ سلسلة أخرى من المغامرات للإفلات من قبضة الحاكم والفوز بحياة جديدة في أرض جديدة .
من أجواء الرواية نقرأ :
- هيا ، قبل أن يلحظ هروبنا أحد ، سوف نبحر إلى فيجون لنشنّ حرباً ونستعيد بلادك ، لن نتركها لسمحان . لم يرد هاتان وبقي شاخصاً بنظره إلى الأفق حيث بدأت الشمس المغيب ، ثم أجاب بعد صمت :
لا يا دوريان ، شكراً لعرضك ، لقد انتهى الأمر ، ( ... ) انتهت حربي يا صديقي ، أنا راحل . سحب هاتان قارباً إلى الشاطىء ، ركب وحيداً وجدّف مبتعداً وهو يستعيد ذكريات كل ما حصل في سوبرات . كان يراها رحلة ممتعة رغم أنه خسر كل شيء ، عائلته ، وطنه ، ونفسه في أحيان كثيرة ، لكنه مستعد الآن ليبدأ مغامرة جديدة في أرض أخرى لا يسكنها أحد .
