في هذا الكتاب إن تفكيرنا في المستقبل يفرض علينا التفكير في أساس وحدة الوجود التي تتمثل اليوم في التواصل الاجتماعي في المجال العام بواسطة التقنيات الحديثة، كما يفرض علينا التفكير في الأوهام التي يخلقها إنتشار التقنيات الحديثة، وبالتالي التفكير في إمكانية انبثاق المستقبل كانفصال عن اتصال المتاهة. فهل "الوجود في المتاهة" هو نهاية الإنسان و الاتصال و التاريخ؟ بمعنى آخر، هل يمكن الانفلات عن الوجود في المتاهة، وهل يمكن للتقنية ذاتها أن تساهم في حدوث ذلك وأن يستعيد الإنسان وجوده خارج المتاهة، أم أنه سيخضع لمكر قوة ما بعد التقنية؟
في متاهة التقنية يدخل الإنسان في حال من الطمأنينية، أو هو وهم الطمأنينة، الذي يجعل النفسية الإنسانية تطمئن إلى وضعها المشروط بالتقنية، أي التقبل الطوعي لوضعية الرهينة، والخضوع لهذه القوة التي يتحدد اليوم على أساسها المصير الإنساني.
من هنا يعني الإنفلات فك الارتباط بالوحدة التكنولوجية، أي التخلص من وضعية الارتهان والنمطية التي أدت إلى التواجد في متاهة التقنية، ومن التيه اللامشروط، في المغامرة التي تقود إلى المجهول، ويعني ضرورة المحاولة لاستعادة الوجود، وتحقيق الحضور لتعويض الحاجات والشعور بالعجز.
