تأتي أهمية الحديث عن القيَم من وجوه عديدة، أبرز هذه الوجوه هي أنّ القيم الأخلاقية في حقيقتها ما هي إلا تعبيرٌ عن كينونة الإنسان وتمام خِلقتِه التي خلقه الله سبحانه وتعالى عليها، وتعبيرٌ أيضاً عن فطرته التي فطر النّاس عليها، وما خلقه الله تعالى فيه من المبادئ الجامعة لكلِّ معاني الخير والصَّلاح والإصلاح التي أكَّدتها الرسالات السماوية وحثَّث عليها، قال تعالى: ﴿فَأَقِمْ وَجْهَكَ لِلدِّينِ حَنِيفًا فطرت اللَّهِ الَّتِي فَطَرَ النَّاسَ عَلَيْهَا لَا تَبْدِيلَ لِخَلْقِ اللَّهِ ذَلِكَ الدِّينُ الْقَيِّمُ وَلَكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ النَّاسِ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ(30)﴾. [سورة الروم: آية 30].
