Book Description
جاءني صوت امرأة تتمتم أغنية من أغاني المهد، وكان صوتها ضعيفاً متقطعاً، وكانت تحمل بين ذراعيها طفلاً رضيعاً غطته بإحكام، اقتربت مني بجسدها النحيل وعينيها المذعورتين، وشفتيها اللتين لا تكفان عن الغناء وهي مذهولة، صحت فجأة:
- يا إلهي أنها جان زوجة إبراهيم.
كدت لا أعرفها، وزاد اقترابها مني، وهي تسير بالكاد بين الجموع، صدر عنها رائحة عفونة قوية، أشعرتني بالغثيان، كان الجميع يحاولون الإبتعاد عنها، وهم يسدون أنوفهم، بينما تسارعت خطواتها وهي تشق طريقها داخل السفينة، وتسارع إيقاع الأغنية وارتفع، إلا أنها حوصرت من قبل بعض البحارة الأتراك الذين كانوا يحاولون إنتزاع وليدها منها، وهم في وسطهم تقاومهم بشراسة، حتى أخذوه منها وهي تصيح باللغة الشركسية:
- إنه نائم... لا... لا... إنه لم يمت... لماذا تأخذونه مني إنه ابني... إنه ابن إبراهيم...
وأخرجت ثديها الضامر بحركة هستيرية وهي تلاحقهم صائحة:
- هاتوا وليدي... أريد إرضاعه... إنه جائع.
حاولت بعض النسوة، الإمساك بها لمساعدتها ولكن دون جدوى، فقد كانت تقاوم كل من يقترب منها بشراسة ذئبة جريحة، ولما غاب ابنها تماماً عن ناظريها، انهارت أرضاً وهي تجهش بالبكاء وتصيح:
- أعيدوا ابني... لا لا.. لا ترموه في البحر.
