أستاذ الفلسفة سابقاً في جامعة أوهايو في الولايات المتحدة الأميركية وفي جامعة بيروت العربية، وحالياً أستاذ الترجمة في الجامعة الأميركية للعلوم والتكنولوجيا أستاذ الفلسفة والترجمة في الجامعة الأمريكية للعلوم والتكنولوجيا (AUST) في بيروت- لبنان.
درّس الفلسفة في جامعة روتجرز (Rutgers University) وجامعة ولاية أوهايو (Ohio State University) وجامعة جون كارولز (John Carrols University) في الولايات المتحدة.
Book Description
يأتي هذا الكتاب ضمن سلسلة التعريف بفكر سعادة التي تعرف بفكر الرجل وتقدم عرضاً وافياً لمواقفه وآرائه في العديد من المسائل. وفي هذا الكتاب يتناول المؤلف القومية والديمقراطية والعولمة عند سعادة. حيث يقدم بذلك لدراسة موسعة عن العولمة عموماً والدولة القومية. ليعالج من ثم فكر سعادة في ثلاثة أقسام بحث فيها موضوع القومية والأمة عند سعادة، الديمقراطية عموماً وعند سعادة بخاصة، والعولمة عند سعادة.
إذ يبين المؤلف أن لسعادة أفكاراً قومية اجتماعية غير متطرفة، بسطها في كتاب (نشوء الأمم). وقد وجد سعادة أن أمته ممزقة فأراد أن يغير حالة الأمة عن طريق التثقيف التربوي والتوعية العقائدية. وأراد بواسطة حزبه أن يمكن الشعب الممزق من الدخول إلى العصر وقد دعا سعادة إلى استخدام لغة علم الاجتماع القومي ولغة النهضة القومية الاجتماعية لكي تكون هذه اللغة متميزة عن اللغة الطائفية والعنصرية والطبقية والعشائرية.
ويرى المؤلف أن الحل لما تعانيه الأمة يكون بالديمقراطية التمثيلية التعبيرية التي نادى بها سعادة وفي موضوع العولمة يذهب المؤلف إلى أن سعادة لا يرى في أمته الناهضة بثقافتها الجديدة حرباً على الأمم الأخرى فيما يسمى تصادم الحضارات، بل يريدها أن تقدم ما عندها من فكر للأمم الأخرى تشاركها في فوائده وثماره.
