إن استمرار القتال بين الأكراد في العراق واحتلال قوات الحكومة العراقية لأربيل لردع التدخل الإيراني ثم إنزال الولايات المتحدة جيوشها في الكويت وإعادة أسطولها وطائراتها إلى منطقة الخليج في منتصف 1996 يؤكد بأن العلاقات الإيرانية-العراقية-الكويتية ما انفكت عن كونها علاقات متوترة إلى درجة أنها أصبحت قضية الساعة من جديد بل القضية البارزة في منطقة الشرق الأوسط، وقد تستمر.
حول هذا الموضوع تدور دراسة الكتاب الذي نقلب صفحاته، والتي تأتي كمحاولة لفهم هذه القضية المعقدة. وذلك من خلال عودة الباحث إلى أصل هذه القضية ألا وهو النفط وقابلياته الخرافية في تحديد وتسيير كل ما يجري في المنطقة. وقد اعتمد الباحث في دراسته هذه على المنهج العلمي الموضوعي معززاً ما يكتب بالحقائق والأرقام والتواريخ، محاولاً الاعتماد، إلى جانب آرائه الشخصية، على الحقائق الواقعية المتوفرة في هذا الحقل. وذلك عن طريق جمع هذه الحقائق وتصنيفها وترتيبها وربطها ببعضها البعض ثم عرضها على القارئ بأسلوب متسلسل وسلس. لذا فإن القارئ سيعثر على كمية من الحقائق التي نقلتها وكالات الأنباء وكتب عنها الآخرون في كتبهم وصحفهم وبياناتهم مرفقة بتعليق الباحث عليها.
