هذا الكتاب هو عن سيكولوجية الشخصية جاء مطابقاً للمناهج والمقررات العربية في الكليات والمعاهد والأقسام في الجامعات العربية، وقد حرص المؤلف ان يكون بلغة سهلة بسيطة توافق الفهم العام ويتماشى وما يتعلمه الطلبة في الكليات بشكل يسير، حيث يعد مفهوم الشخصية من أكثر مفاهيم علم النفس تعقيداً لأنها تشمل الصفات الجسمية والعقلية والوجدانية كافة، المتفاعلة مع بعضها داخل كيان الفرد ولهذا تعددت الآراء وتباينت المفاهيم في معالجتها لمفهوم الشخصية من حيث طبيعتها وخصائصها ومكوناتها وعملياتها وديناميكياتها ونظرياتها وفعاليتها ومقاييسها والإختبارات التي صممت لها.
والشخصية يمكن عدها من أهم الموضوعات الرئيسة في فروع علم النفس كلها بل يمكن عدها البداية والنهاية بالنسبة لعلم النفس بصفة عامة، فالشخصية في نموها وتغيرها في أثناء مراحل حياة الفرد يتناولها علم النفس التربوي وعلم نفس الطفل لأن أحد أهداف هذا العلم متابعة نمو شخصية الطفل حتى يصبح يافعاً، ومتابعة خصائص كل مرحلة في نموها وتغيرها في نموها التي تعبر عن شخصية في سوئها وإنحرافها تتفاعل الشخصية مع الآخرين والمجتمع وهذا التفاعل يتناوله بالبحث والدراسة علم النفس الإجتماعي الذي يعنى بدراسة ديناميكية الفرد والجماعة.
جاء هذا الكتاب في موضوعات شتى شملت شخصية الإنسان ودراستها من الناحية السيكولوجية وحسب ما ورد في آراء علماء النفس ومن لهم تماس في دراسة الشخصية، وقد كان شاملاً لكافة مفردات الشخصية بدءاً من مفهومها وأهمية دراستها وتعريفها ومكوناتها وسماتها، وقياس الشخصية وتقييمها والعوامل المؤثرة فيها وأهم نظريات الشخصية وإختيارات الشخصية والذكاء وعمليات الشخصية وموقف الإسلام من نظريات الشخصية، ثم تطرق الكتاب إلى الميول وأنواعها ونظرية الحافز للعمل، وأخيراً القيادة الشخصية.
