يحوي هذا المؤلف، سبعة أبواب، تضمنت عرضاً شاملاً لمجمل أسس العلاقات الدولية، في الباب الأول تطرقنا إلى نشأة العلاقات الدولية ونطاقها وعلاقتها بغيرها من العلوم، فيما الباب الثاني احتوى نظريات العلاقات الدولية، فتضمن تسعة فصول جمعت أسس النظريات من الواقعية إلى المثالية وما بينهما من مدارس ونظريات.
أما الباب الثالث فخصصناه إلى تحوّلات الجغرافيا السياسية وأثرها في العلاقات الدولية ونظرياتها، فيما الباب الرابع عالج الأزمات الدولية وطرق وأساليب إدارتها، أما الباب الخامس فتضمّن نظرية القوة وعلاقتها بالأحلاف الدولية وتوازناتها وصراعاتها، علاوة على التكتلات الدولية في حقبة الحرب الباردة، وما تلاها، إضافة إلى تداعيات إنهيار الإتحاد السوفياتي لجهة تفرّد الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية بقيادة النظام العالمي.
ثم انتقلنا في الباب السادس إلى تبيان الأشخاص الدولية الفاعلة في العلاقات الدولية كالدول والمنظمات الدولية، والشركات العابرة للقارات والأفراد، وصولاً إلى الباب السابع الذي تضمن أبرز القضايا الدولية كالعولمة والإرهاب والسيادة وغيرها.
لقد اتبعنا منهجاً علمياً أكاديمياً بهدف إلقاء الضوء على قضايا أرّقت جفون المختصين لجهة توصيف وتكييف العلاقات الدولية، علاوة على إبراز ومقاربة أوجه الإتفاق والإختلاف في نظريات العلاقات الدولية، إضافة إلى معالجة بعض وقائع العلاقات الدولية وما نتج عنها، بأسلوب علمي موضوعي، يسهّل على المختص كما المهتم الإستفادة من هذا العمل المتواضع الذي استهلك جهداً كبيراً.
