يأتي هذا الكتاب ضمن سلسلة موسوعة شعراء العرب بقلم الأستاذ "كمال أبو مصلح" لإلقاء الأضواء على حياة وشعر، شاعر بلغ من المكانة ما لم ينل أفضل منه شاعر على مرّ العصور ألا وهو "أحمد شوقي". فمن هو أحمد شوقي: ولد أحمد شوقي في القاهرة سنة 1868م، وتوفي عن عمر يناهز الـ 64 عاماً.
يرد أصل أسرته إلى الأكراد فالعرب والده - أي جد الفقيد - قدم مصر يافعاً يحمل وصاة إلى محمد علي باشا والي مصر. وكان الجد يحسن الكتابة بالعربية والتركية فأدخله محمد علي باشا في معيته وعين أميناً للجمارك المصرية. أما جد الفقيد لوالدته فكان اسمه أحمد بك حليم وكان يعرف بالنجدلي نسبة إلى نجدة إحدى قرى الأناضول.
يضم هذا الكتاب كنزاً مطموراً برأي الكاتب "وما هذا الكنز سوى مقالات هي ذكريات تأسٍ وأسس كتبها بعض رفاق شوقي، وعار فيه المقربين، ولما تجف دموعهم عليه غب وفاته.
وهي عبارة عن مجلات عامة كثيرة الأبواب، متغيِّرتها تجمع طريف الأخبار، ومختلف الفنون، وشتات الموضوعات فلا يتوقف عندها المتخصصون، ولا يأبه لها المنقبون، ولا تمتد إليها إلا يد الفضول، ولا يحظى بما فيها إلا بالاتفاق أي المصادفة.
من هذه المقالات نقرأ ما قاله أمير المطربين يحدثنا عن أمير الشعراء كموسيقي وفنان يقول أمير الطرب محمد عبد الوهاب: "قبل أن يُنظم الفقيد القصائد التي أتحفني بها فلحنتها وأنشدتها لم يكن قد نظم للغناء سوى موال أو موالين وهما موال "ساهي الجفون" و"ياما أنت وحشني" (...) وهنا قلت للفقيد أن الحال ستظل سائرة على هذا المنوال ما لم يقم شاعر عظيم مثله ويقوض التقاليد البالية ويضع لنا أغاني جديدة. "وصفوة القول أن شوقي بك كان موسيقياً فناناً بقدر ما كان شاعراً فذاً". ومن شعر أمير الشعراء نقرأ: "ريم على القام بين البان والعلم/أحل سفك دمي في الأشهر الحرم، في القضاء بعيني جؤذر أسداً/يا ساكن القاع، أدرك ساكن الأمم".
هذا هو شاعرنا الذي عاش أميراً قبل أن يبايعه الشعراء وينصبوا له عرشاً يرفعونه عليه، وفاز بهذه الإمارة وكان خليقاً بها وأهلاً لها ومستحقاً إياها.
