إن كتاب تروتسكيب الذي نقدمع اليوم تحت عنوان "كتابات عسكرية" هو كتاب أصدره المؤلف من قبل باسم "كيف تسلحت الثورة" كيف تسلحت لتنتصر خلال حرب أهلية جاءت في أعقاب حرب عالمية. والحقيقة أن الثورة الروسية كانت كالثورة الفرنسية والثورة الصينية مرتبطة بالحرب أشد الارتباط. ولقد دارت الأمور من فبراير (شباط) حتى أكتوبر (تشرين الأول) 1917 حول مسألة واحدة هي: حرب أم سلام، وهذا يعني: حرب أم ثورة. وتبددت المطامع الإمبريالية الروسية بالقسطنطينية وغيرها مع سقوط القيصرية. وبقيت الجبهة الألمانية -النمساوية سلبية أو فقدت حماسها واندفاعها. وكانت السوفييتات تود صادقة الإنتهاء من الحرب. وفي أكتوبر (تشرين الأول) توصلت السوفييتات تود صادقة الانتهاء من الحرب. وفي أكتوبر (تشرين الأول) توصلت الأكثرية البلشفية في السوفييتات إلى السلطة بالاشتراك مع بعض الاشتراكيين-الثوريين، والمناشفة الأمميين. وعرضت حكومة لينين السلم فوراً على كافة المتنازعين الذين رفضوا هذا العرض. وهاجمت الجيوش الألمانية من جديد، ولم تلبث أن أجبرت السلطة السوفييتية الجديدة على قبول سلم بريست ليتوفسك الذي كان تروتسكي المفاوض الأساسي في مباحثاته.
في هذه المرحلة المرهصة بالثورة الشعبية العربية المسلحة الطويلة النفس، تمثل ترجمة مختارات من الكتابات العسكرية لأبي الجيش الأحمر ليون تروتسكي "عقل الثورة السوفيتية العسكري" على حد تعبير لينين، حدثاً فكرياً هاماً.
من الصعب تلخيص نظرية تروتسكي العسكرية في جملة شعارية، لكت للضرورة نستطيع القول إن دعامة هذه النظرية، إن الحرب الثورية لا تصل إلى نهايتها الظافرة إلا إذا كانت بقيادة هيئات مركزية متخصصة وحزب مركزي ذي انضباط حديدي. وهذه مسألة تحتاج إلى حوار بين الثوريين العرب لتحديد طبيعة، نوعية، نظرية، تركيب ووسائل التسيير الديمقراطي لهذا الحزب الثوري الذي يجب أن يكون وعي الثوريين فيه مساوياً له وإن يكون فيه الجميع قيادات وقواعد في بيت من زجاج.
