Book Description
كان "فيكتور هيجو" من الأدباء الفرنسيين المتميزين في القرن الثامن عشر، وقد اشتهر كواحد من الكتاب الشاب الذين أطلقوا على أنفسهم "الكتاب الرومانسيين". وكان هيجو طوال حياته معارضاً ومناهضاً لعقوبة الإعدام، عبر عن موقفه هذا من خلال روايته "نوتردام باريس" أو "أحدب نوتردام" حيث وضّح موقفه ومفهومه المناهض لعقوبة الموت في تلك الرواية بأسلوب رائع وذوق رفيع يحمل سمات كتاب الأدباء الرومانسيين. فشخصية الاسميرالدا الشخصية النسائية المحورية في هذه الرواية هي محط عطف وذلك لظروف حياتها البائسة والتي تتهم زوراً بالقتل مستعينة بالسحر والإغراء، وتنتهي بها الأحداث إلى الإعدام الذي تهتز له مشاعر "كوازيمور الأحدب" والذي يمثل الشخصية المحورية في هذه الرواية.
يعرض هيجو الأحداث بطريقة بارعة تأخذ بألباب القارئ، مثيراً شغفه وأحاسيسه ومشاعره وشفقته على ذلك الرجل البائس أحدب نوتردام (كوازيمود) الذي أحب الاسميرالدا حتى أنه قضى نحبه بقربها بعد إعدامها.
