كانت الحاجة الى تبني مفهوم النثرية العربية باعتبارها نقلة نوعية معرفة وقتية في مجال الدراسات النقدية الخاصة بالسردية العربية، كانت حافزاً من الحوافز التي تدعوني الى شق عصا طاعة السائد الأكاديمي في مدارس هي أقرب الى تعليم السوبر تخلف. لذلك كان دأبي في هذا الكتاب الذي يبدأ برصد اللافت من العلامات اللغوية الغالبة، أن أركز على علاقة المتممات أو اللواحق بالعمدة، متسائلاً هل أن وضعها النحوي في السرديات يشبه وضعها في كتب النحو، وهل المتممات لها وظيفة تقوية الأداء المعنوي للعمدة؟ لقد ساقني هذا الهاجس الى اجراء تطبيقات على نصوص سردية مختلفة، كان من ثمرتها نتائج وجيهة، منها أن المتمم أو اللاحق يسعى الى كسر شوكة العمدة بتدبير الحبك السردي وتلوينات أساليبه، مما يتيح الفرصة للخروج بنتائج قد تصلح لتكون مخارج، بل مداخل جديدة أخرى لمقاربات في السردية العربية وأشكال تمثلها في الواقع الروائي العربي بثاً وتلقياً.
