"تزيين الأسواق بتفصيل أشواق العشاق" كتاب للعلامة الأديب داود الأنطاكي المتوفي سنة (1008 هـ)، وهو ضرب من فنون الأدب الإسلامي المتخصص، ومجال تخصصه "العشق وأهله". والكتاب بحق موسوعة أدبية مزيدة واضحة المنهاج جمع فيه مؤلفه أخبار العشق وأهله. والكتاب مر بمراحل حتى وصله إلى داود الأنطاكي. فبداية ألف القاضي عزيزي بن عبد الملك بن منصور، أو المعالي المتوفي سنة (494 هـ) كتابه (مصارع العشاق في شارع الأشواق). ثم جاء من بعده محمد البارزي، صدر الدين، المتوفي سنة (785 هـ) وألف كتابه (الفائق في المواعظ والرقائق). وكان للكتاب السابق عليه مهذباً ومنسقاً. ثم جاء إبراهيم بن عمر بن الحسن الرباط البقاعي، المتوفي سنة (885 هـ) وألف كتابه (أسواق العشاق من مصارع العشاق، فكان لسابقيه محسناً وجحودا ومؤنقاً. ثم اختتمت السلسلة بالعلامة داود عمر الأنطاكي، الذي أجاد وأبدع، فوضح المنهج، وبرع في تبويبه، وأضاف على من سبقوه، وحذف الأسانيد المكرر، حتى ظهر الكتاب بهذا الاتقان ولأهمية هذا الكتاب تم الاعتناء به في هذه الطبعة بعد أن لاقى في طبعات سابقة له تشويهاً وتحريفاً. وكان العمل فيه على الشكل التالي: 1-ضبط النص وتقديم العبارة بالرجوع إلى المخطوطات والنسخ المطبوعة، 2-شرح الغريب من الألفاظ والأشعار، 3-تخريج الأحاديث والآثار، 4-غزو الشعر وأقوال العلماء، 5-تراجم الشعراء والعلماء، 6-الفهارس اللازمة. وقد جاء الكتاب مرتباً على مقدمة وخمسة أبواب وخاتمة. المقدمة: فيما جاء من الأخبار والآثار. الباب الأول في مصارع محبي الله تعالى، وفيه فصل ميز المؤلف فيه من قتله التذكر بنحو سماع آية. الباب الثاني: في عشاق الجواري. الباب الثالث في عشاق الكلمات. الباب الرابع في ذكر دخول العشق فيما سوى البشر، وهو نوعان: الأول: في الجن. الثاني في الحيوان، والنبات، والمدن، والعناصر والأفلاك. الباب الخامس: قد اشتمل على فصول، بكل فصل احتوى على النكت والعجائب واللطائف والغرائب من أصول هذه الصناعة. وأما الخاتمة: ففيها لطائف ونكت متفرقة تتعلق بالعشق.
