هذه رسالة صغيرة تدور مسائلها حول ( من ) الشرطية، وهي واحدة من رسائل صغيرة كثيرة وضعها إبن هشام ( 741 هـ) في مناسبات مختلفة، فمنها ماكان جواباً عن سؤال أو أسئلة وجهت إليه، ومنها ما كانت حول أقوال قيلت وآراء ذكرت، فعرضها وعلق عليها، ومنها مادار حول إعراب كلمة إختلفت آراء النحاة فيها، ومنها ما وضعها ناقلاً فيها مناظرة أو محاورة دارت بينه وبين واحد من علماء عصره كهذه المباحث التي أورد إبن هشام فيها محاورة أو مذاكرة كانت بينه وبين تقي الدين السبكي ( 756 هـ ) حول مسائل تتصل بـ ( من ) الشرطية. وقد كانت على نية الإكتفاء بتحقيق النص ونشره، ولكن الكاتب رأى الحاجة داعية إلى التفصيل في الكلام على المطبوع من آثار إبن هشام، تعريفاً بها وتنبيهاً عليها، فقد أصبح الوطن العربي أسير حدود تفصل سكان قطر من أقطار العرب في القطر الآخر، وتحجبهم عما صدر في غير قطرهم من كتب، ورأى الحاجة أيضاً داعية إلى بيان مواضع ترجمة المؤلف التي تجزئ عن غيرها، فجعل ذلك مقدمة للنص. ورأى إحدى وسائل " المباحث " تدور حول خبر إسم الشرط، وهو موضوع إختلفت فيه أراء القدماء، وتعرض له المحدثون في مصر وسورية والعراق ولبنان، وإستمر خلافهم حوله تبعاً لإخلاف القدماء فيه، وهو موضوع كثير الورود في الكتب المدرسية، فألحقت بالنص عرضاً لأقوال بعض النحويين يمثل آرائهم على إختلافها، وناقش ما قالوه محاولاً الإهتداء إلى رأي واحد إستخلصه منها، رآه أقرب إلى الصواب، وأبعد عن الشذوذ، وألصق بما أصله النحويون من منهج نحوي ومعنى إصطلاحي.
