هذا كتاب جامع السعادات لمؤلفه المولى النراقي "محمد مهدي بن أبي ذر النراقي" المولود في إيران (1128 - 1209) ويكاد يعد في الدرجة الثانية أو الثالثة من مشاهير علماء القرنين الثاني عشر والثالث عشر للهجرة.
يعتبر مؤلف الكتاب أن الغاية الأساس من وضع النواميس والأديان وبعثة الأنبياء والمصطفين الترفع بالناس إلى مرتبة الصفات الفاضلة وتزكيتها وأن "التزكية موقوفة على معرفة مهلكات الصفات ومنجياتها والعلم بأسبابها ومعالجتها... وهي الموجبة للحياة الحقيقية، والسعادة السرمدية، والتارك لها على شفاجرف الهلكات، وربما أحرقته نيران الشهوات".
من هذا المنطلق يجمع المولى النراقي بين دفتي هذا الكتاب خلاصة ما ورد من الشريعة الحقة مع زبدة ما أورده أهل العرفان والحكمة على نهج تقربه أعين الطالبين، وتسربه أفئدة الراغبين.
هذا، وذكر المؤلف بعض المقدمات النافعة في المطلوب من الأستاذ ثم أشار إلى أقسام الأخلاق، ومبادئها، ثم إتجه صوب المعالجة الكلية لذمائم الأخلاق ثم اتبعها بمعالجة جزئية لكل خلق مذموم، وأردف المحمود من الكلام وما يدل على فضله عقلاً ونقلاً، إضافة إلى إلحاقه فصلاً فيما يتعلق بالقوة العقلية من الفضائل والرذائل، ثم ما يتعلق بالغضبية، يليها ما يتعلق بالشهوية، ومعرفة أضادها، والعلم بمبادئها وأجناسها، وأخيراً ينوه الكاتب أن الغرض من هذا الكتاب هو إصلاح النفس، وتهذيب الأخلاق.
