اعتنى الإمام الغزالي في كتاب "الجام العوام عن علم الكلام" ببيان عقيدة السلف كامل البيان مع الدليل والبرهان. ولأهمية هذا الكتاب قام بكتابته الأستاذ محمد الفاروقي معاقا على ما كتبه في الذيل.كما عمل إيضاح بعض الغوامض وتصحيح بعض الأخطاء التي وجدها. وقد وضع الألفاظ التي رآها أنها من سهو النساخ بين حاصرتين هكذا [ ] ونزل منها رقما إلى ذيل الصحيفة، وكتب اللفظ الصحيح كما رآه، وخرج الآيات القرآنية الواردة فيه، ووضع تعليقات حسب المقامات تعتبر مثل توسيع للكتاب، كما وضع كلمات في ترجمة الإمام.
