يكشف التراث الإسلامي عن ما منحه الله لعلماء هذه الأمة من إخلاص وتحرى الأمانة والدقة، وعن ما رزقهم من دقائق العلم فصنفوا والفوا المؤلفات لنفع هذه الأمة ولنفع العام والخاص، ولما كان هذا التراث قد تشتت في أرجاء الأرض، وتعرض كثير منه للتلف والضياع، وحرص مركز الخدمات والأبحاث الثقافية على جمع مصورات هؤلاء العلماء وفهرستها ووضعها بين أيدي الباحثين رغبة في إحياء هذا التراث.
ولذا فقد أنشأ المركز قسماً خاصاً بالمخطوطات الإسلامية وجهد على الحصول على مصورات لنوادر المخطوطات القيمة، وكما أنه أعد مكتبة للمخطوطات والدوريات، وعقد الصلات بالهيئات العلمية التي تعمل في هذا المجال في جميع أنحاء الدنيا بغية الانتفاع والتعاون معها.
والكتاب الذي بين أيدينا هو الإصدار الأول من إصدارات المركز وفيه مجموعة مختارة لمخطوطات عربية نادرة من مكتبات عامة في المغرب، كمكتبة الخزانة العامة في الرباط، وخزنة جامع القرويين بـ"فاس، وخزنة بن يوسف الموجودة في مراكش، وترجع أهمية هذا الفهرس إلى أنه يحتوي على مخطوطات نادرة جداً لا وجود لمثيلاتها في مكتبات أخرى، أما هدفه فهو تسهيل عمل الباحثين والمحققين.
وبالرجوع إلى مضمون هذا الفهرس نجد أنه جاء منقسماً إلى ثلاثة أقسام احتوى الأول منها على سرد لمخطوطات الخزانة العامة في الرباط، وهذا التعداد جاء متضمناً كافة المعلومات المتعلقة بالمخطوطة بدءاً بعنوان المخطوطة فاسم مؤلفه، فكنيته، ونسبه وسنة وفاته، ونوع الخط المنسوخة به المخطوطة، وحالة المخطوطة، ومضمونها ومصادرها.
أما القسم الثاني فاحتوى على تعداد للمخطوطات المتواجدة في خزانة القرويين بفاس، وهذا القسم أيضاً احتوى على ذكر لكافة المعلومات المتعلقة بكل مخطوطة، أما القسم الثالث فتعلق بمخطوطات خزانة ابن يوسف الموجود في مراكش واحتوى على تعداد لأهم المعلومات التي تفيد الباحثين والمجتمعين.
