منهج هذا الكتاب يتمركز على كتابين لموضوع واحد بعضه يكمل البعض الاخر حول تعبير الرؤيا في المنام بأسلوب ميّسر، فالكتاب الأول وهو الكتاب الذي بين أيدينا هو ما عبّره الإمام الصادق رضي الله عنه، وقد جمعه المؤلف من المصادر المعتبرة منها كتاب الإشارات في علم العبارات. للعلامة خليل بن شاهين الظاهري المطبوع بهامش كتاب تعطير الأنام، منشورات الشريف الرضي، حيث ذكر ابن شاهين في كتابه الإشارات، كما اعتمد المؤلف في تصنيفه للكتاب على كتب المتقدمين، وأقوال المشايخ المعبرين مثل كتاب الأصول لدانيال الحكيم، وكتاب التقسيم للإمام جعفر الصادق رضي الله عنه.
وقد رتَب ترتيباً ألفبائياَ لكي يسهل على القارئ كشف مطالبه وسماه "تقسيم الرؤيا" كما وردت تسميته في "كشف الظنون عن أسامي الكتب والفنون".
وأما الكتاب الثاني فجعله مكملاً للكتاب الأوَل ومضافاً إليه بعض المستجدات التي تعلمها من خلال ما كان يعبرها الوالد للناس، وكذا ما قرأه عن تفسير الرؤيا لمشاهير المعبرين.
