تنتظم هذا الديوان رؤية موحدة، وإن انطوت على مضامين متنوعة: الشعر السياسي والوطني، الغزل، والوجدانيات. ففيما يتعلق بالمحور الأول السياسي والوطني، فقد تجنب الشاعر، التجريد وااتقرير والكلام المباشر، فلم يطغ التفكير السياسي والعقائدي السطحي على الصور الجمالية وتجسيدها. لقد اعتمد التعبير في هذا السياق الوطني بكلمات وعبارات حيّة عند الناس، لا يصيغ وألفاظ بصيغ وألفاظ تقبع في بطون الكتب والقواميس، فلم يلجأ إلى الخطابة وإثارة العواطف والأحاسيس، وإنما سعى أن تكون تجربته الشعرية للقراءة والتأمل أكثر منها للوعظ والإرشاد، من دون أن يقلل من أهمية الدور الذي يمكن أن يضطلع به الشاعر في تبني قضايا وطنه، وهموم أمته. أما فيما يتعلق المحور الثاني الغزل؛ فقد أيقن الشاعر أنه لم يعد مقبولاً انتهاك حرمة الغزل بالمضغ والاجترار واعتماد الصور الموروثة في أن يبكي ويُبكى. أما عن محور الوجدانيات ففيه كما في المحورين الأولين عدم الاعتناء بمظهر القصيدة الخارجي وعدم الاعتبار أن ميزتها تكمن في اعتماد الأوزان التقليدية ولا في الخروج عليها.
