هذا المؤلِّف يجمع بين تاريخ اللغات الساميّة وبين جملة نماذج من آثارها، وكنت كلّما انتهيت من البحث والتنقيب في لغة من اللغات الساميّة اقتبست أمثلةٌ متنوعةٌ من آثارها، لأن الآثار هي المرآة التي تتراءى فيها الصور الصحيحة للغات الأمم وعقليّاتها.
وقد عنيت بالبحث في نشأة اللغة العربية، ووصلت فيه إلى نتائج هي ثمرة جهودي الشخصيّة، إذ كانت بحوث المستشرقين في نشأة اللغة العربيّة ناقصةً وموجزةً بل وغامضة، في حين كانت بحوثهك في أغلب اللغات الساميّة وافيةً لا سيّما في العبريّة، فلهم فيها أبحاث جليلة.
لذلك اهتممت جدّ الإهتمام بالبحث في اللغة العربيّة، ووضعت لها ثلاثة أبواب مفصّلة ألممت فيها بكلّ أطوار حياتها منذ الجاهليّة إلى الآن.
ومن حسن المصادفات أن جاء الأستاذ إينو ليتمان إلى الجامعة المصريّة، وهو من أشهر مشاهير المستشرقين الألمان وله مؤلفات جليلة في الآثار الصفويّة واللحيانيّة والثموديّة والنبطيّة والتدمريّة والحبشيّة والعربيّة، فاتّصلت به إتصالاً وثيقاً، ولما علم أنّي شرعت في طبع كتاب في تاريخ اللغات الساميّة وعدني بتدوين ملاحظاته عليه.
ورجاؤنا وطيد في أن يكون لهذا الكتاب في الأندية الشرقيّة المستنيرة وبين جمهرة المستشرقين تأثير ذو بال يشجّعنا على المضيّ في البحث عن المعضلات والمشكلات التي تعرّضنا لها في كتابنا هذا.
