يعد هذا الكتاب من البحوث الوصفية التي تستخدم لدراسة القضايا والظواهر المختلفة وجمع الحقائق والمعلومات والبيانات عنها، ثم تسجيل هذه الحقائق والمعلومات والبيانات وتصنيفها وتحليلها وتفسيرها واستخلاص الناتج بشأنها، وقد وجد الباحث إن انسب منهج علمي لدراسة موضوع الكتاب، إذ جرى حصر المقالات الصحفية التي تناولت قضايا وموضوعات الديموقراطية في إطارها العام والشامل وفي إطار ديمقراطية الإعلام والاتصال في كل من الصحف الخمس ميدان الدراسة خلال المدة الزمنية المحددة للتحليل باستخدام طريقة الحصر الشامل، ومن أجل تحقيق الأهداف الذي يسعى الكتاب إلى الوصول إليها، فقد اعتمد الباحث إسلوب تحليل المضمون، إذ تم إخضاع المقالات الصحفية المشار إليها إلى التحليل بهدف تشخيص وتحديد قضايا وموضوعات الديمقراطية التي انطوت عليها مضامين تلك المقالات الصحفية.
وقد جرى تقسيم الكتاب إلى أربعة فصول، جاء الفصل الأول تحت عنوان الاطار المنهجي للبحث ليتناول منهجية الكتاب وحدوده وإجراءاته.
وتناول الفصل الثاني نتائج الدراسة التحليلية المتعلقة بمحور: الديمقراطية شكل من أشكال الحكم في مبحثين.
وتضمن الفصل الثالث في مبحثين نتائج الدراسة التحليلية المتعلقة والدراسة التحليلية الخاصة.
أما الفصل الرابع فقد تضمن نتائج الدراسة التحليلية المتعلقة بمحور: الحقوق والحريات، في مبحثين أيضاً.
