التفكير والتعقل عماد الإسلام، وركيزته الأساسية في العقائد والأخلاق والسلوك، فهذه الشريعة السماوية لا تبيح للإنسان تصديق ما لا يراه العقل صحيحاً، ولا التحلي بما يسهجنه العقل من السجايا، ولا الإتيان بما يستقبحه العقل من الأعمال. وانطلاقاً من هذه الرؤية جاءت الخطابات القرآنية وأحاديث الرسول صلى الله عليه وسلم وأحاديث أهل بيته عليهم السلام زاخرة بالمفردات الداعية إلى التفكير والتعقل، كالتفكر والتذكر والتدبّر والتعقل والتعلم والتفقه والذكر والب والنهى، وجعلت هذه المحاور مداراً، وأكد عليها في توجهاتها أكثر من أي شيء آخر؛ حيث تكررت في القرآن الكريم كلمة العلم ومشتقاتها 779 مرة، وكلمة الذكر 274 مرة، والعقل 49 مرة، والفقه 20 مرة، والفكر 18 مرة، واللب 16 مرة، والتدبر 4 مرات.
فالإسلام يرى أن العقل أساس الإنسان، ومعيار لقيمته ودرجات كماله، وملاك لتثمين قيمة الأعمال، وميزان للجزاء، وحجة الله الباطنية. فالعقل أثمن منحة إلهية وُهِبَتْ للإنسان، وهو أول قاعدة للإسلام، وأهم ركائز الحياة، وأجمل حلية يتحلى بها الإنسان.
في هذا الإطار يأتي كتاب "العقل والجهل في الكتاب والسنة" الذي يقدم، من خلال استقرائه للآيات الكريمة والأحاديث الشريفة، إثارات جديدة في حقل المعرفة منسقة على نحو بارع. وأما بالنسبة لعملية التحقيق فقد جرت على النحو التالي: 1-جمع كافة الروايات المتعلقة بالموضوع من المصادر الروائية الشيعية والسنية ثم استلال أشملها وأوثقها وأقدمها مصدراً. 2-اجتناب تكرار الروايات. 3-إيراد أحاديث النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم في المتن، وروايات سائر المعصومين في الهامش. 4-تضمين مدخل الكتاب والاستنتاجات الواردة في بعض الفصول والأبواب، رؤية شاملة لروايت ذلك الكتاب أو ذلك الباب، وأحياناً تذليلاً لما قد يكتنف بعض الأحاديث من غموض.
