تعد التنمية الاقتصادية واحدة من أهم شواغل العصر وهموم الحياة الحاضرة، خاصة في بلدان العالم الثالث. من هذا المنطلق تحظى معالجة هذا الموضوع وتناوله من خلال المنظور الإسلامي بأهمية استثنائية. هذا وإن بيان منظومة الفكر التنموي من خلال الرؤية الإسلامية على نحوٍ عام، وعرض مركب التنمية الاقتصادية من منظور هذا الدين على نحو خاص، يثبتان بوضوح شمولية الإسلام وتفوقه بإزاء ما يطلق عليه "التنمية" الموجودة في العالم المعاصر التي تستمد نموذجها وتستوحيه من الرؤية الكونية المادية، كما يمكن لهذه العملية، لو تمت، أن تساهم في إرساء قواعد نظام اقتصادي جديد ينهض بمعالجة المعضلات الاقتصادية المعاصرة، ومن ثم يشق الفكر التنموي الإسلامي طريقاً جديدة لامتداد الإسلام وازدهاره.
وهذا الكتاب، الذي يعد التاسع في مجموعة "موسوعة ميزان الحكمة" خطوة إلى الأمام في هذا السبيل، وهو ينهض ببيان أصول الفكر التنموي الاقتصادي على نحو مبتكر، مستمداً من النصوص القرآنية والحديثية. أما منهجية التحقيق فيه فقد جرت على النحو التالي: 1-جمع أكبر عدد مكن من الروايات المتعلقة بالموضوع من مختلف المصادر الروائية الشيعية والسنية، ثم استلال أشملها وأوثقها وأقدمها مصدراً. 2-اجتناب تكرار الروايات. 3-إيراد حديث النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم في المتن، وروايات سائر المعصومين عليهم السلام في الهامش. 4-ذكر الرواية الواردة عن المعصومين على التوالي. 5-تضمين مدخل الكتاب والاستنتاجات الواردة في بعض الفصول والأبواب رؤية شاملة لروايات ذلك الكتاب أو ذلك الباب، وأحياناً تذليلاً لما قد يكتنف بعض الأحاديث من غموض. 6-إعطاء نوع من التوثيق للحديث الصادر عن المعصوم، عن طريق دعم مضمون أحاديث كل باب بالقرائن العقلية والنقلية.
