ليس هذا الكتاب (المرشد إلى القواعد والإعراب) متفرداً في عالم النحو العربي، فقد سبق أن بدأت دراسات في هذا المضمار منذ أكثر من ألف سنة وهي ما زالت تتلاحق عاماً بعد عام خدمة للغة العربية وقواعدها وتسهيلاً لأبنائنا الطلبة وجميع الذين تعنيهم اللغة العربية قولاً وكتابة وإعراباً.
لقد تحصن علم بجهود رائعة بذلها أبو الأسود الدؤلي مبتغياً تجنيب اللغة العربية اللحن والخطأ، كي تبقى سليمة كما هي في القرآن الكريم مصدر اللغة دون جدال. ولعل الدؤلي اقتدى أولاً بالرسول الأعظم الذي اعتبر اللحن ضلالاً، ومن ثم الإمام علي عليه السلام الذي أزعجه ما يقع فيه أبناء اللغة من لحن فدعا أبا الأسود إلى وضع أسس النحو العربي. ومنذ ذلك الوقت والنحو العربي أحد أهم مشاغل الدارسين والمتخصصين بحثاً عن وسائل مبسط سهلة تذوب فيها التعقيدات وتتوضح صور النحو وأشكاله وأنواعه.
ولعل ما حرص عليه في هذا الكتاب هو تقديم نحو مبسط وواضح بأسلوب عملي تطبيقي مبتغياً السهولة والوضوح والشمول في آن معاً.
