إن كيفية نشأة علم النحو واللغة في أوساط المسلمين - فتطويره السريع ثم بسطه في غضون قرن أو قرنين - كانت ولا تزال من أهم القضايا في تأريخ اللغة والأدب العربيين، وكما نعلم، ما كانت القبائل العربية في العصر الجاهلي على علم بقواعد النحو وأصول الإشتقاق ولم تكن الحاجة ملحة في طرح مثل هذه القضايا آنذاك.
ومن المعلوم أن المناطق الشرقية من إيران حتى حدود الصين كانت ولمدة قرون موطئ قدم للبوذيين الإيرانيين ومأواهم، هؤلاء هم الذين قاموا بنقل معظم ميراثهم الفكري والثقافي إلى هذه الحضارة الجديدة بعد إسلامهم وإلتحاقهم بالمسلمين وأسهموا في نشأة هذه الحضارة ورقيها.
والمستشرقون الغربيون الذين ينظرون إلى الإسلام منحازين إلى آرائهم والذين يدرسون الإسلام من حيث علاقته مع الغرب، قد أغفلوا جوانب لم تسعفهم بصيرتهم إلى معرفتها، لذلك سلكوا متاهات في كثير من قضاياهم وأنظارهم.
ومن هذا المنطلق فقد قام المؤلف يتبين هذه المشابهات القريبة القائمة بين النحوين الهندي والعربي في بعض القضايا ومناقشاتها في هذا الكتاب الموسوم بــ"النحو الهندي والنحو العربي" وقد شرحها إستناداً إلى شواهد نقلها عن أمهات المصادر، مما يبين أن قواسم الشبه القائمة بينهما في اللفظ والمعنى والتوظيف قريبة كل القرب، بحيث مهما كان لا نستطيع إعتبارها أمراً إعتباطياً ولا بد لنا أن نبحث عن أواصر تاريخية في هذا الصدد.
