لقد اهتم الفرنسيون بالجانب الثقافي والديني، وتحدّثوا عن السكان والأرض منذ مرحلة مبكرة فصارت كتبهم التي نقدم في هذا الكتاب وصفاً لها مصادر يردها الباحثون على إختلاف إتجاهاتهم.
