إن كتاب النقاش البونية الفينيقية هو دراسة تحليلية للنقائش الفينيقية البونية في إقليم المدن الثلاث في ليبيا (لبقى)لبدة، (ويات) طرابلس، وصبراتن صبراته. تحتوي الدراسة أربعة فصول: الفصل الأول: يتناول الخلفية التاريخية للفينيقيين ووصولهم إلى ليبيا وتأسيس المدن الثلاث الفصل الثاني: يخصص لدراسة اللغة والكتابة الفينيقية البونية. الفصل الثالث: يركز على دراسة النقائش البونية. الفصل الرابع: يكرس النقائش البونية-الللاتينية دراسة تحليلية مفصلة.
وبما أن اللغة العربية والفينيقية تنتميان إلى مجموعة اللغات المتفرعة عن اللغة الأم العربية القديمة، وأيضاً لوجود تقارب كبير بين هاتين اللغتين، فقد دفع الأمر ببعض الباحثين يضاً لوجود تقارب كبير بين هاتين اللغتين، فقد دفع الأمر ببعض الباحثين إلى توجيه الدعوة إلى الباحثين العرب لاستعمال الحرف العربي في كتابة اللغات السامية بدلاً من استعمال الحرف العبري واللاتيني بهدف مساعدة القارئ العربي على قراءة النصوص الفينيقية. ومن هنا تأتي مساهمة المؤلف في كتابة بعض النصوص البونية بالحرف العربي بدلاً من العبري.
ونظراً لأن الفينيقيين تخلدهم أبداً آثار حضارتهم الزاهرة، فإن النقاش الفينيقية تبقى الأثر الأدبي الوحيد المكتوب بلغتهم، إذ أن النقاش هي الوثائق الأصلية المعاصرة للأحداث ومجرياتها التي تسجلها، كما إنها تزود المرء بمعلومات وافرة.
إن العمل المجيد الذي قام به مؤلف هذا الكتاب إنما هو خطوة على طريق إنجاز آخر مع التطلع إلى ما يمكن أن يسهم فيه الباحثون الآخرون والدارسون المتخصصون والمهتمون.
