تتبوا منمنمات نسخة من المقامات الحريرية (نسخها وَرَوَّقها يحيى بن محمود بن كوريها الواسطي) مكانة متميزة بين منمنمات المدرسة العربية الإسلامية في التصوير الإسلامي، وتعكس هذه المنمنمات التي أنتجت خلال النصف الأول من القرن السابع الهجري، النصف الأول من القرن الثالث عشر الميلادي، إشراق الحضارة في العراق والعالم العربي الإسلامي وإيناعها، حيث وصلت القمة في مجالات الحياة المختلفة.
وتظل منمنمات المقامات الحريرية التي زوقها يحيى بن محمود الواسطي والذي ثبت تاريخ إنجازها بعام 634هـ / 1237 الأنموذج الأمثل لرسوم المدرسة العربية الإسلامية، وإن إمعان النظر في هذه المنمنمات البالغ عددها 94 عداً صورتي الغرة وفاتحة الكتاب يقود إلى إحتمال شبه اكيد إنها من إنتاج مدينة السلام.
ومما لا شك فيه أن هذه المنمنمات هي رسوم توضيحية قصد بها تسهيل مهمة فهم النص، وهناك أكثر من دراسة لها ومنذ أن عرضت لأول مرة ومنذ أكثر من نصف قرن، تناولت تلك الدراسات جوانب معينة ولم تدرس بشكل شمولي حتى وثائقي تاريخي تخصصي، لذلك مؤلفة هذا البحث وسماء حسن الأغا وبجدية متميزة وهمة عالية ورغبة قوية ومثابرة جادة، بدراسة هذه المجموعة النفيسة من المنمنمات، كشفت عن أشياء جديدة في التكوين الفني والقيم الجمالية فأظهرت الأطر الهندسية من دوائر ومربعات أو مستطيلات للتكوين والصيغ، وبينت القيم الجمالية فيها من خلال هذا البحث.
