قد يكون العنوان الرديف لهذا الكتاب الذي ورد بعد العنوان الرئيسي (تاريخ إربل) هو العنوان الدال على صفة الكتاب.
والعنوان الرديف هو (نباهة البلد الخامل بمن ورده من الأماثل)، والأماثل أولئك هم فقهاء وعلماء بصفتهم العامة، وبينهم أدباء ومؤرخون وشعراء، وهم الذين انتسبوا لــ (إربل) أو توافدوا عليها وأقاموا فيها، ونشروا ما تهيأ لهم من علوم فقهية وعلوم حول القرآن الكريم والحديث النبوي الشريف، وهو ما يمكن أن يوضح الحياة الفكرية في (إقليم إربل)، وبذبلك نتقارب مع حقيقة هذا الجزء المتبقي من أجزاء عدة لعلها أربعة التي ألفها شرف الدين بن أبي البركات المبارك بن أحمد اللخمي الإربلي المعروف بإبن المستوفي المتوفي سنة 637هــ - 1239م.
وهذا الجزء المتبقي هو الجزء الثاني (من تاريخ إربل)، وقد وصفه محققه السيد سامي بن السيد حماس الصقار في مقدمته المسهبة التي وضحت كل ما يحيط بهذه المخطوطة التي بقيت لزمن طويل في عداد المفقودات حالها حال الأجزاء الأخرى من (تاريخ إربل).
يقول السيد الصقار في مقدمته: وعلاوة على ما تقدم فإن الأخبار الواردة في المخطوطة تدور في كثير من الأحيان على ذكر أرابلة برزوا في العلم والتقى أو احتلوا مراكز مهمة فاستحقوا بذلك أن يشار إليهم، ومجرد نظرة على الكتاب تكفي لإدراك هذه الحقيقة.
