اجتمعت في الإمامين الحسن والحسين من المناقب والمزايا ما يعجز عن ذكره لسان وقد خصصها الله بالمآثر والفضائل التي فاق بها الأواخر والأوائل وهو أشرف وأزكى من أن تعد مكارمهما. نهض مؤلف الكتاب المسمى بلاغة الإمامين الحسن والحسين فجمع فيه مأثوراتهما عليهما السلام وخطبهما ورسائلهما التي فاقا فيها البلغاء، وبما أن ذلك لم يكن مدوناً بين دفتي كتاب وغير مجتمع في مجموعة واحدة، وإنما جاء كل ذلك متفرقاً واقتصى من المؤلف جهداً كبيراً في جمعه ونظمه وتبويبه.
ضم القسم الأول من الكتاب بلاغة الإمام الحسن حيث قدم المؤلف لذلك بنبذة من حياته عليه السلام ثم أتى على ذكر خطبه ومكاتيبه واحتجاجاته ومناظراته وكلامه وأقواله، ومواعظه ونصائحه ووصاياه في شأن أهل البيت والمسائل العلمية التي أجاب عنها ثم الآداب والسنن والأدعية. أما القسم الثاني فهو يضم بلاغة الإمام الحسين عليه السلام، وهو في أبواب: الباب الأول في الخطب وما جرى مجراها، الباب الثاني في كتب مولانا الشهيد الحسين بن علي الباب الثالث في القصار من كلماته، إضافة إلى باب الدعاء وما ورد عنه في شأن أهل البيت وبعض ما جاء عنه في التفسير وفي الآداب وبعض ما نسب إليه من شعر.
