ومع صلابته كان أندلسياً مشتملاً بثوب الحضارة والظرف، يترخَّص في الطرب والغناء، ويُحامي عن حقوق النفس في الأُنس، ويشتدُّ مع مَن يحولون بين الإنسانِ والغرائز الطبيعية العفيفة.
تَشهدُ مؤلفاته بأنه امرؤ واثقٌ بنفسه، قويٌّ في عزيمته، وأنَّه لا يضعُ اليراعَ حتى يستقصي كلَّ واردةٍ، ويقنصُ كلَّ شاردة، وأنه محيطٌ بمواردِ الخصوم، قادرٌ على مراوغاتهم.
عشق وجاهر بالعشق، وحَلَّ حبوةَ وقاره فتفلسف في العشق ونَظَمَ فيه أرقَّ الشِّعر، وجرَّ معه أحلى الذكريات.
ألَمَّ بألوان من الفنون، وبقيت كتبه نافعة مانعة عبر الأجيال مما يشهد على إخلاصه.
وقد رأيتُ إعادةَ نَشْرِ هذه الصفحات، التي كان أصلها مقالةً مطوَّلةً في العدد (79) من مجلة المعرفة، فبراير 2001م، الذي خُصِّصَ لتاريخ الحضارة الأندلسية.
