يشكل هذا الكتاب دراسة رائدة حول إسهام المرأة الأندلسية في النهضة الثقافية في الأندلس، (عصر ملوك الطوائف: 422-479هـ/1031-1086م)، ولا سيما في مجاليّ العلم والأدب، وفي عصرٍ كان خلفاء الأندلس وملوكها، وعامة الناس فيها تقريباً، مولعين بالعلوم والآداب، وقد درجوا على تشجيع كل عبقرية وتكريمها.
عبر صفحات هذا الكتاب توضح الباحثة الدكتورة سهى بعيون كيف بلغ العلم في عصر ملوك الطوائف أوج نشاطه وشهد ظهور نوابغ العلم، ليس على مستوى الأندلس فحسب، بل على مستوى العالم الإسلامي أيضاً، وكيف كان لتعدد المراكز الحضارية في عهد ملوك الطوائف، وتنافس الملوك على العلوم أثره في هذا الازدهار العلمي. وكيف انعكس هذا الازدهار الفكري والفني على المرأة العربية الأندلسية. وجعلها تحتل مكانة سامية يومئذٍ في المجتمع. وتشارك في مختلف مجالات الحياة الثقافية والعلمية، وتنجح فيها أيضاً، (العلوم الدينية - الحركة الأدبية واللغوية - الطب والصيدلة وغيرها)، الأمر الذي جعل من ولع النساء الأندلسيات بهذه العلوم حدثاً تاريخياً ومعرفياً عظيماً سجلته أقلام الكتاّب والمؤرخين كعلامة بارزة في نهضة الحضارة العربية والإسلامية في الأندلس إلى اليوم.
يبدأ الكتاب بتمهيد عن العهود التي مرّت بالأندلس يتبع ذلك خمسة فصول جاءت تحت العناوين الآتية: الفصل الأول: تعدد المراكز الحضارية في عهد ملوك الطوائف وأثره في الازدهار العلمي. الفصل الثاني: المرأة الأندلسية ثقافتها ومكانتها الاجتماعية. الفصل الثالث: إسهام المرأة في العلوم الدينية. الفصل الرابع: إسهام المرأة الأندلسية في الحركة الأدبية واللغوية. والفصل الخامس: إسهام المرأة الأندلسية في العلوم الطبية. وأخيراً خاتمة واستنتاجات.
